Getting inside of my head won’t be pretty. I’m warning you now that you won’t like me. I hate people besides my family. I hate everything around me. I just want to be alone. Poem 5: "I'll Have to Learn"

I have to learn how to live.
To laugh.
To have fun sometimes.
I have to learn how to brush some things off.
To know that not everyone feels the same way as me.
Opinions are opinions, but when those opinions turn nasty,
That's when I get upset
And feel like the world is against me.
But the world isn't against me,
Maybe I'm against it?

It's a process I'll have to go through
To be happy.
And healthy and safe.
I know I'm safe,
It's just the happy I'm working on...

Poem 4: "Goodbye"

How can I say this in words you'll understand?
How can I say this without hurting your feelings?
How can I say this so you won't end up feeling hurt,
And I'll feel like a jerk?

I like you,
We've been friends for a while,
But I don't think this can continue anymore.

I just don't feel it for this anymore.
And I hate to say it's not you it's me,
But in this case it is.

You're sweet and everything,
But you're always there.
Always. And I don't know how to turn it off.

You deserve a better friend than me.
You deserve so much more than me.
And you have. I see that you've made a few friends.
And I'm happy for you.

I'll still say hi and stuff,
But other than that,
I'm sorry.

I hope you're good.
I want you to be good.
I want you to be happy.

Just not with me.

BLOG TOUR: SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME by Candy Caine @candycaine2

Evie Bennington and Dillon MacAllister sizzle on the dance floor. And between the sheets. The green-eyed hunk professes his love for Evie and promises never to leave her. Then suddenly, inexplicably, Dillon disappears. Evie is devastated and wonders if her mother’s warning about trifling white men is true after all.

In time Evie picks up the pieces when a handsome, bronzed EMT named Ty woos her. She determines to forget about her passionate love affair with Dillon and give Ty a chance. Then Dillon reappears. The circumstances surrounding his earlier disappearance are tragic. And he wants her back. But even though just the sight of Dillon makes her quiver with longing for his lovemaking, how can Evie choose between two men who mean so much to her?

“—A story about real relationships…the romance between Evie and Dillon is electric. Candy Caine’s writing is impressive.”
Latrivia S. Nelson, Bestselling Author of The Ugly Girlfriend

She couldn’t understand why she was unable to forget Dillon. He was only a guy. She had been okay before she met him and should be able to go on without him. But that thought appeared to be easier said than done. Especially when he haunted her dreams. Thoughts of him crowded her mind. There was little room for anything else. If she wanted to get on with her life, she’d have to exorcise him from her soul.
Finally, she came to the conclusion she needed to talk to him one last time if she intended to get on with her life. She had no idea what she might say to him, but assured herself she’d know when the time came. That was, if he’d agree to see her. There was always the chance that he wouldn’t want to talk to her. But she had to find a way to see him. She realized she’d have no peace until she did. Therefore, she’d have to press the issue and give him no choice.
Evie knew Dillon’s schedule. He was in class now and she had some time before the start of her next class. She would wait outside his classroom and try to talk to him then. If she left her dorm now, she could be there a few minutes before the class ended. Grabbing her coat, purse and keys, she rushed out of the room. Now running, she headed toward the building where his class was being held. As she pushed through the door of the building, she collided with a person walking out. They fell together in a heap.
“Dillon!”
“Evie? Unbelievable!”
They both began to laugh. They laughed until the tears came. Finally, Dillon helped her to her feet. He gathered her into his strong arms and held her tightly against him. “I couldn’t eat or sleep. You were always on my mind,” he said.
She turned her head and looked at him. Her soft-brown eyes were moist and glistening in the fluorescent lights. Gently, her fingers skimmed his face. “I was wrong. This is where I should be.”
Dillon took her hand and kissed her palm. Their eyes met and held a beat before their lips came together for a long feverish kiss that conveyed what words could not.
Classes ended and the hall began to fill with people. Both Dillon and Evie had to go to their classes.
“To be continued,” he said, as he started to let her go.
“Yes. Call me later.”
One last quick kiss before they separated. They reluctantly pulled away from one another. As they slowly parted, Evie couldn’t help but marvel how fate kept bringing them together. Yes, it had been her objective to meet him at his class, but instead they collided in the hall. Was this some kind of proof that they were destined to be together?
Evie knew she cared for Dillon. But could that caring be much more? Could what she felt be love? Why else couldn’t she forget him?
And how was she going to tell her mother about Dillon?

BOOK BLITZ+GIVEAWAY: LOVING ANGEL by J.L. Weil

About the book:

Blurb:

Title: Loving Angel (The Divisa Series, #4)
Author: J.L. Weil
Release date: October 2, 2014

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20438264-loving-angel

Loving Angel isn’t easy. Actually, it’s downright exhausting, but somehow she weaseled her way into my life. She has become my everything—my reason for existing—my reason for breathing. I love the ever-loving crap out of Angel Eyes. There is nothing I wouldn’t endure for her—even college.

College. Ugh.

I hope the frat boys, the jocks, and the nerds are prepared for what is about to embark on their school this fall. Half-demons. Hunters. And um, the Keystone? Yeah, that is going to take getting used to.

We aren’t exactly your average freshman. And somehow I find myself stuck with a bunch of troublesome females to look after. Angel. Emma. Lexi. Pretty sure I got the raw end of the stick.

But that isn’t the worst of it. There is someone lurking in the shadows—spying and stalking my girlfriend. He is a dead man. How many people am I going to have to kill for this girl? A better question would be how many people wouldn’t I kill for her?

As many as it took.

Angel is about to experience betrayal of the worst kind. And this time, it’s not entirely my fault—shocker.

Don't miss Saving Angel, book one in J.L. Weil’s The Divisa Series!

Excerpt from Loving Angel:

For anyone who thought love was easy, well, I’d say they haven’t met Angel.
Loving Angel…it’s not easy. Actually, it’s downright exhausting.
I’d never met a single person who attracted as much trouble as she did. It was as if she oozed danger-stalk-me nectar. What was a guy to do?
Okay. I’ll admit that because of me and what I am, I had put her smack dab in the middle of a demon war, but I swear she does a bang-up job of getting herself in all kinds of gooey situations on her own.
How many people would I have to kill for this girl? Simple. As many as it took. In all honesty, a better question would be: How many people wouldn’t I kill for her?
Angel was my every thing—my reason for existing—my reason for breathing. I loved the ever-loving crap out of Angel Eyes.
Gawd. I think I might have vomited a little in my mouth.
Mushy thoughts weren’t my forte. Well, before Angel they weren’t. Not a single romantic thought had swirled in my brain. I wasn’t exactly an easy personscratch that, half-demon to love, but somehow Angel was able to see past my rocky and rough exterior.
God bless her.
Being a badass meant I was an asshole more times than not. I had a reputation to live up to, and everything you might have heard…it’s all a hundred percent true.
In case you’ve been living in a cave, the name’s Chase Winters, and I’m not your average incoming college freshman. Nope. I’m half demon.
It’s true. My so-called father is a demon with a mega power trip. I might be only part human, but my family is just as screwed up as the next.
That being said, I finally thought it was time you heard the story from my side. Lord knows Angel fabricates everything.
For once, it was not entirely my fault that Angel’s life was at stake.
What a mind-blowing concept.

Author Interview:
When did you start writing?
Oh gosh, that is like asking my age. I started writing in junior high, but nothing serious, just fun short stories here and there. It wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I sat down and began my first novel. My kids were older and I needed a hobby. That hobby turned into late nights at the computer, because I couldn’t get the characters out of my head. I knew from the moment I made the decision, I wanted to write Teen Romance.

What is your favorite writing style?
I am not an outline or a plotter. Plotting makes my eyes go cross. I do take a lot notes. A lot. Usually I have a general idea in my head of characters, settings, and motives. Then I let the story build as I write. Often I write the ending first, so that I have a goal to aim toward.
My favorite writing style is first person. I think my writing style is more of everyday talk. It is not filled with prose. I have a simpler writing style. It is what works for me.

What’s the best thing about writing?
The best thing about writing is the satisfaction when you finish a book and write those two words. The End. I also love getting emails and letters from readers who have read my books. It is my motivation to keep writing.

What do you do when you’re not writing?
I spend time with my family, play video games, and am constantly thinking about my new characters and what kind of paranormal power/gift I could give them.

Do you like reading?
I love, love reading and miss it tremendously, because when I’m drafting, writing, or editing, I never have time to read. You should see my TBR list… *sigh*

Book Review: EXTINGUISH by JM Darhower

It's been awhile since I've done a book review, so here I go!
_______________________

Extinguish by J.M. Darhower

Summary:
One… Two… Three… Four…

I Declare War

Serah always believed the world around her was perfect. As a Power, one of the warrior angels, she has spent her existence defending the innocent from evil. After tragedy strikes, tearing Serah's brother from her life, she's given the task of stopping the approaching apocalypse before it's too late.

Only one thing, though: she has to venture to Hell to do it.

Lucifer—or Luce, as he prefers to be called—has been biding his time in Hell, longing for revenge against those who oh-so-easily cast him into the pit. When the heavenly beauty shows up at his gate, he's just as captivated by her presence as she becomes of him. The attraction between them is palpable, and Serah's willpower slowly slips. How can this charming creature, this scarred Archangel, be the one annihilating the world she so loves?

As the war wages on, the world entwined in chaos, Serah starts questioning everything she ever knew. When the light and dark, hot and cold, finally collide, she has to make a choice—a choice that sets her world on fire, black and white exploding into colorful flames.

Serah has questions. She wants answers.
Luce just wants to play a game.

Review:

This book was AMAZING!!!! I thought it was going to be like Becca Fitzpatrick's "Hush Hush" series because of the angel/demons demographic, but it wasn't like that at all. The setting is between Heaven and Hell, and the Angels who swear to protect humanity, and the demons who are determined to destroy it.

The story starts with Power angel Serah's brother Samuel falling from Grace. Devastated, she wants to find out why he fell, and what made him fall, but the rule is that once an angel falls, basically move on and forget about them because they are no longer part of Heaven. But she is persistent in investigating her brother's falling.

Serah is given a special duty given from God-- to persuade Luicfer, Satan himself, to end this war between Good and Evil. And all this is to Lucifer, or Luce, as he likes to call himself, is a huge game. He keeps baiting her, cheating, lying, coveting her all for a simple game. And this frustrates Serah because as she's trying to figure out his tactics, her lover and Archangel Micheal and best friend Hannah are skeptical as to why Serah wants to keep going back every day to the 7 Pits of Hell to figure this out.

The middle of the book dragged a bit when Serah and Luce kept playing the card game War over and over, and in the end, he cheated!! I was mad right along with Serah! LOL But then even Luce's analyses of Good vs. Evil, and its never-ending battle. He seduced her into sex....I LOST IT! I lost it because I was so angry with Serah for giving in, but also I was scared for her because I knew she was going to get into serious trouble with everyone in Heaven, especially Micheal. And when she got back, all Hell broke lose-- LITERALLY!

I was holding my breath while reading Micheal and Luce's final battle because I had no clue who was going to win. They both had equal forces, but different outcomes of where they stood. But it was intense, nonetheless.

The last 10% of the book really got me, because for me, Micheal was so bitter over what Serah and Luce had done that he'd put a mark on her to slowly kill her. But Luce kept begging and pleading him to stop it; that was when I really felt his care and love for Serah-- when no one else turned against him, she always went back to figure him out. Granted, she was frustrated with his games, but she still went back because she took a liking to him. And when Micheal almost killed her, Luce couldn't take it. But it was too late; she had already fallen.

This book really made me think of what good and evil really represent in life. Not all are good, and not all are bad. We each have a bit of light and dark inside of us, what only matters is which side pulls us further.

Rating: 5/5
