#BookBloggerHop - September 15-21: Special Edition Books

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer's permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week's question submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books

Have you ever bought a more expensive edition of a book, when a cheaper edition was available, just because you preferred the cover of the more expensive one?

I only carry the first versions of books in my bookshelf and Kindle libraries. I admire and get jealous of people (Booktubers, more specifically) who can buy different versions of the same book, regardless of the price. My bookshelf is pretty small, so I have to be very mindful of how I spend money on books, especially if there is an updated cover on it.

Like I said in last week's entry, I don't really buy books based on the cover alone. If the cover looks good but the synopsis isn't, I won't buy it. But if the cover is trash and the synopsis is good, it can be forgiven. As for more expensive vs. least expensive cover editions, unless there's going to be an even more special feature in the book --- like a poster, a snippet of the next book, a map --- I'll stick with the first version to save money.

I ask this question back to you guys. Have you ever bought a book that was more expensive than its original version? Comment below!
